Last night, Stirling’s CEO Mark Cook headed to the Assembly Rooms in Bath to receive the British Venture Capital Association’s (BVCA) Business Transformational Management Team Award for the South West and Wales region. Now in its ninth year, the BVCA awards recognise and reward exemplary businesses and management teams up and down the country who have achieved extraordinary results whilst under private equity ownership. Stirling won the award based on the combined efforts of the management team, employees and investment partner, Enact, in transforming the strategic, commercial and operational focus of the business.
In 2014, Enact invested in Stirling to provide both financial and operational support as we entered the next stage of growth. Enact is a dedicated small and medium-sized enterprise investor that operates as part of the transformational mid-market private equity fund manager Endless LLP. Enact introduced Mark Cook as CEO in 2014 who, alongside his reinvigorated management team, led the transformation of Stirling through improving commercial awareness, driving operational improvements and delivering significant financial growth. Today, exports amount to over 70% of our business supporting clients in North America, Western Europe and Asia Pacific. We maintain our proud position of supplying into many of the premier programmes in the world; from the F-35 with pilot training devices through to control system software for advanced submarine platforms. Stirling recently delivered new designs for helicopter actuators, has multiple complex projects underway and continues to support major aircraft OEM’s around the world with the development of their new and legacy programmes.
On the award win, Mark Cook commented: “To be recognised by the BVCA is a fantastic achievement and testimony to the hard work and dedication of the management team and all the employees in realising the value within Stirling. Enact’s contribution has also been instrumental, providing the right balance of support and challenge throughout the investment period. Following on the back of the Sunday Times Lloyds SME Export Track 100 award this latest recognition underlines Stirling’s success and demonstrates our ambitions to delight our customers, investors and employees.”
