Providing active winglet loads analysis and test support

Tamarack Aerospace have developed a novel winglet and active control system that improves the fuel efficiency and overall performance of the Cessna Citation jet. The company approached Stirling to perform the aeroelastic analysis of the wing, which was required to achieve EASA Supplementary Type Certification (STC).

To support this, we undertook a range of activities including: the development of the EASA CS23 Certification Plan; creation of the aeroelastic model; planning and execution of Ground Vibration Tests (GVT); validation of the aeroelastic model against GVT and flight test data; and a full flutter analysis and test programme.

The new modification achieved STC approval in 2016 and the product is now available on the market as a retrofit for Cessna aircraft.
