Training and Development
Nurturing our talent
Stirling Dynamics believes that its most valuable resource is its employees. All employees are supported to identify a path of progression, with aims and objectives reviewed through development reviews every 6 months. We support all employees in identifying opportunities where possible to offer growth and progression.
All new employees receive an induction to the company and the role. Whilst a lot of the initial training will be ‘on the job’, employees are encouraged to identify training opportunities that will support them in their career progression. Employees can submit a training request at any time for internal or external training. and all employees have access to online learning courses through the Expleo learning platform.
We aim to foster a culture of knowledge sharing through Lunch and Learn sessions, in which employees are invited to present what they have learnt from a project, share their technical knowledge or even share something non-work related such as a hobby.
We are guided by our shared values in everything we do.
Conducting our business ethically and sustainably
Stirling Dynamics’ CSR activities focus on three key areas: inspiring people to consider a career in engineering (especially under-represented groups), supporting our local community and reducing our environmental impact. As well as incorporating our CSR aims into our business decisions, we raise awareness and promote participation in related initiatives amongst our employees and those in our supply chain.
We offer a competitive salary and bonus scheme, a generous pension contribution and flexible working hours to help you balance your work/life demands. Please see some of the key benefits listed below.
Annual leave can be booked in hourly increments and employees have the additional flexibility of being able to book a day off based on the minimum core hours if they still meet their weekly contracted hours.
As part of our CSR policy, we also have a volunteering pot of hours that employees can apply to use during the year.
Sickness support & life assurance
We also offer Private Medical Insurance (PMI) as well as a Cash Plan which covers the excess on any claims on the PMI. We also offer Occupational Health assessments where appropriate to support employees returning to work following sickness or injury.
Lastly, a lump sum of three times your gross annual salary is paid out if the worst happens to you, to help your loved one’s cope financially.
Health & Wellbeing
Additionally, we encourage recommendations from existing employees for any employee roles that we are recruiting. If successful, the referrer will receive a bonus upon completion of the probationary period.
What our employees say
"I joined Stirling Dynamics as a graduate engineer in 2017. I like to describe my work as an “engineering playground”. Every day is a new challenge, and an opportunity to be involved in a different project."
Africa Valencuela Aycart
Compliance Verification Engineer
"My aviation career started in 2012 as an aircraft Design Engineer. Today, at Stirling Dynamics, my role is to sign off modifications to aircraft within our 21J EASA Design Organisation, bringing me into contact with aviation engineers worldwide."
"I have worked for the company for over 5 years as a systems engineer specialising in landing gear systems. At Stirling Dynamics, I’m surrounded by very capable people and it allows me to learn new things every day."
Control & Simulation Engineer
"My career at Stirling Dynamics started in 2019, when I was offered a summer internship. Stirling Dynamics provides a great team-working environment, and I would recommend the company to anyone looking for a daily challenging experience."
"As a project coordinator within the aerospace business unit, I enjoy the variety and fast-paced nature of my work, and the rest of the project management team are supportive. We are encouraged to voice our suggestions on how to make the processes and procedures more efficient."
"I’ve worked on some interesting projects during my time with the company, but my favourite project so far has been modelling aircraft integrated systems on the Mitsubishi SpaceJet (formerly the MRJ). Working on this project also allowed me to spend 2-months in Nagoya, Japan, which was a great experience."
"I’ve worked for a variety of other organisations (universities, consultancies, and OEMs etc.) and Stirling Dynamics is one of the best in terms of variety of work, culture, and flexibility. On a technical level, I am very fortunate that project work at Stirling Dynamics is varied and reflects my interest in dynamic systems."
Whether you are interested in a work placement or a specific live role, here are our most asked recruitment questions
Did you receive my recent application?
All applicants will have received an automatic email confirming receipt of their application. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are only able to respond with further progress updates to successful applications. If you didn’t receive an automatic email confirmation when you applied and you are not sure if your application was submitted, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org confirming your name, the role you have applied for and the date of your application, and someone will get back to you to confirm.
Does Stirling Dynamics offer a graduate training programme?
Yes, we run a 2-year graduate training programme which includes 4 x 6-month rotations across different areas of the business. We also occasionally recruit for graduate roles within certain engineering capabilities so please keep an eye on our vacancies page.
Can I apply for work experience?
Unfortunately, we do not offer work experience. We will occasionally consider internships, but this is on an ad hoc basis and dependent on business needs.
What is Stirling Dynamics’ recruitment process?
All applicants will need to submit their CV through the online application form for the vacancy that interests you. If successful, one of our recruiters will contact you to schedule an interview. Depending on the role you have applied to, you will have 1 or 2 interviews covering a combination of technical and competency-based questions.
What are the working hours at Stirling Dynamics?
The standard full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Our core working hours are 10 am – 3 pm Monday-Thursday, and 10 am – 12.30 pm on Fridays, providing employees with the flexibility they need to balance their working life around their personal life.
Can employees work from home?
We recognise that the increased flexibility associated with homeworking helps some employees to achieve a better work-life balance and reduces their environmental impact through reduced commuting hours. We have therefore introduced a new flex-working policy which will allow employees to continue working from home in the future. For candidates that are not within a commutable distance of the Bristol office, we will also consider 100% remote working.
Do you sponsor visas?
We can sponsor visas. If you do not have the right to work in the UK, please still apply for any roles that you may be interested in.
