THE ROLE 

Due to recent contract wins, and supporting continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for talented Senior Systems Safety Engineers to join our team supporting key projects in the marine/surface-ship safety engineering domain. These roles will be predominantly based in our Bristol offices and may require occasional travel to customer sites. 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

As part of the Systems Safety team, the Senior Systems Safety Engineers will be responsible for the delivery of marine/surface-ship safety support to the client which may include activities such as: 

  • Providing safety input to bid activities,  
  • Guiding the safety programme requirements, 
  • Safety & environmental management, 
  • Collation of evidence and deliverables to support the product safety argument generation, 
  • Quantitative analysis techniques, 
  • Hazard analysis activities, Hazard Log generation and management, 
  • Production of safety engineering artifacts in accordance with applicable Defence Standards, 
  • Providing safety input to internal and external design review meetings, raising concerns as required, 

  

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

Candidates will ideally be degree qualified, in a related discipline, and be experienced in marine/maritime/surface-ships/defence related systems safety engineering principles, processes and standards. 

Specific skills/knowledge/experience should include: 

  • The ability to lead activities within a team, 
  • Work package creation, management, and delivery, 
  • Hazard Logs and analysis activities including: HAZID, HAZOP, FHA, 
  • Analysis techniques such as: FTA, ETA, FMEA, FMES 
  • Production of safety documentation such as PSSA, SSA, PRA etc., 
  • Environmental Documentation e.g. EFM, EISS, EIA, 
  • Defence Standards e.g. 00-56, 00-55, 00-51, 05-057,  
  • Mil Std e.g. 882E, 
  • International standards e.g. IEC 61508IEC 62368, 
  • Working within a quality system environment, such as AS9100ISO9001, 
  • General Product Safety & CE Marking directives (RoHS, REACh, LVD etc.).
