Stirling is thrilled to announce our Company Partnership with the Women’s Engineering Society (WES). The Women’s Engineering Society is a charity and a professional network of women engineers, scientists and technologists offering inspiration, support and professional development. Working in partnership, WES supports and inspires women to achieve as engineers, scientists and as leaders; they also encourage the education of engineering; and support companies with gender diversity and inclusion.
In the UK, women make up around 12% of the engineering workforce and in what is clearly a male-dominated industry, Stirling is determined to help encourage girls and young women into engineering careers. We hope to do this by promoting engineering as a challenging, creative and rewarding industry that offers exciting career opportunities to all.
Commenting on the membership, Stirling’s Business Unit Director, Dan Clark stated: “We are passionate that all young talent should be aware of the different options and possibilities the engineering industry has to offer, regardless of gender. We hope that our membership at WES will help us to inspire future female engineers and provide a forum where our current workforce can share ideas and come up with new ways to promote inclusivity in engineering.”
Over the next year, Stirling will be reviewing how we can take further steps forward in strengthening our commitment to helping achieve gender equality in engineering.
This year, WES celebrates its centenary and on Sunday, 23rd June it is International Women in Engineering Day 2019. For more information on how to get involved with the campaign, visit http://www.inwed.org.uk/
