On the 14th November Venturefest Bristol 2013 will be taking place at the UWE Conference Centre. Venturefest is an annual event organised by Science City Bristol in partnership with the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and is aimed at “anyone who has an early-stage technology business idea and is looking for support and advice to get that idea off the ground.”
Stirling Dynamics will be actively participating in this year’s event by presenting at the workshop streams – Collaboration and Funding. Stirling’s R&D Manager, Dr. Simon Hancock will be presenting at the Collaborating with organisations in the public and private sectors session and will be discussing his experiences in collaborating with both large organisations and small start-ups. Stirling’s Business Manager, Peter Stirling, will be presenting at the Grants and Vouchers session to discuss his experiences in accessing government funding for R&D projects, most recently in acquiring an USW Innovation Voucher. Both presenters will be drawing on past experiences, offering advice and providing lessons-learnt.
In addition to the workshops, Peter will also be sitting on the investor panel for ‘The Pitch’ where new businesses will be pitching their ideas to investors.
Both Peter and Simon were keen to get involved in this year’s event after being impressed with the calibre of the event last year, “we attended Venturefest last year and came away with some really good contacts that we’ve since followed up. Venturefest has a great mix of people from all branches of technology and all stages of development from early start-ups to established companies. It’s also a great place to learn more about the funding available for technology and all the other business support available for high-tech businesses. We’re really looking forward to this year’s event.”
